Greetings to you all.

I do hope you and your loved ones are keeping well.

Although our physical seminars, international, branch and chapter, could not take place this
year, planning and preparations for our seminar in Denver, in August 2021 is well under way.
We trust this will take place.

                                                                                                                 rd
I am proud to report that the IAATI Executive Board hosted an Awards Ceremony on August 3
for the winners and their families. It was a huge success. Coverage of this ceremony and details
about the various awards, the winners and their stories will be in the November issue of the
         APB.

A very important aspect, especially in our current situation, is the participation in our various
committees. The full list of our committees is on our website. Apart from being responsible for
our governance and day-to-day operations, the committees are addressing all aspects of
vehicle crime. Volunteers on branch, chapter and international levels are needed. You do not
have to be a Board member or have years of experience to participate. We need not only
experts on the committees, but also new, younger members who are interested in being
mentored to move with us into the future, to take up the leadership positions in the
association. Therefore, please volunteer and contact a Board member or the Chairperson of
the committee you are interested in.

Three committees immediately come to mind. The Heavy Equipment, Insurance Liaison and
Vehicle Cross Border Crime Committees, which do not have good international participation.
This is a serious need as these are three key areas in vehicle crime to be monitored and
addressed on a continuous basis, internationally.

Some of our committees are doing ground breaking work on the prevention, combatting,
detection and investigation of vehicle crime. You will find updates and articles about this in our
publications, the APB and VCT, and on our website.

Also, if there are members who are skilled and trained in the usage of all the different social media
platforms, please do make contact with me. Your assistance is dearly needed.

Some exciting new initiatives will soon be launched to further increase the interaction with the
         membership.

I am sure that we, as IAATI members, together, will as always, play a major role in meeting the
challenges posed by vehicle crime globally.

         Please stay safe and healthy

         Tinus Odendal
