Cyber Crime Research & Development Institute
This is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of Johannesburg, Zonke-Unicode (Pty) Ltd.
and IAATI that recognizes:
• the mutual interest in the fields of research, education, training, transfer of technology and dissemination of
knowledge on a long term non-commercial basis;
• the importance of the collaboration between institutions of higher education with the industry,
• the need for specialized research in cybercrime and related fields to address the need for innovative
cybercrime solutions to address vehicle crime and the need for practical involvement of students in such
initiatives;
• the knowledge and expertise available within IAATI and the Association’s ability to contribute to the research
by providing a global perspective to cybercrime and its manifestation within the vehicle crime environment.
The MOU agrees to establish collaboration around:
• innovative technologies and their application to cybercrime prevention, combatting, detection and
investigation.
• engineering technologies relevant to and in support of School of Consumer Intelligence and Information
Systems - College of Business and Economics.
• engineering technologies relevant to and in support of Zonke-Unicode and IAATI and their initiatives in
combatting vehicle related crimes.
• technologies that support the communities within which the parties operate.
• research initiatives.
